About the Firm
At Karish & Bjorgum, we focus on the creation and protection of intellectual property (or “IP”) through patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets. Most IP firms limit themselves to either transactions or litigation. We focus on both because a strong transactional practice makes us better litigators, and vice versa. If you are filing for a patent, you want a patent that will not only get through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, but one that will be enforceable in litigation. If you are litigating a case, you want someone who understands the strengths and weaknesses in the transactions behind the IP.
When you need to acquire or protect legal rights in your invention, brand or expression, we invite you to compare us with any other firm. You won’t find more experienced, accessible and enthusiastic IP practitioners.

What is IP Law?
Intellectual Property law is the body of law protecting inventions, expression and the identification of goods and services. The most commonly known IP areas are patents, trademarks and copyrights. Patents protect inventions such as a new machine or method for making something, and can also protect designs. Copyrights protect the expression of creativity, whether it be by music, writing and visual art. Trademarks protect names, words and symbols used to distinguish a source of goods or services. Trade dress, trade secrets and unfair competition are also part of intellectual property law.
